St. John’s University Coming of Age Ceremony (成年禮) 2016!

Another November, another Coming of Age Ceremony at St. John’s University for all our first year university students, over 800 of them!  Smartly dressed in their SJU blue ties and white shirts, and accompanied by their tutors, faculty, our new SJU President Peter Ay, SJU Alumni and about 100 parents, the students all arrived at 3:00 pm on Wednesday afternoon for our annual event.  As you will see, the preparations took much time and a lot of experimentation – especially to get those ties looking good!

The ceremony was organised by our SJU Chaplaincy and the Student Affairs Section, and has received much praise from the Ministry of Education ~ we had speeches, presentations, songs, drinking of a symbolic glass of wine, and a blessing from Bishop Lai. The students formally thanked their parents and teachers for their support and encouragement, and presented them with potted plants as a small gift.

Congratulations to all our students ~ who are now officially all grown up, and to the university for organizing such a worthwhile event!
