Advent Church celebrates Mother’s Day!

Yes we had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday, with a special song from our Advent Church choir ~ and then more special songs and dances from one of our groups who are mostly not church members but meet for singing and dancing on a Sunday afternoon, a kind of outreach ministry of Advent Church.  They perform for us several times a year, always beautifully attired, this time Hawaiian style! 新北市淡水區興仁國民小學 Xingren Elementary School Sports Day!

A big celebration weekend ~ it’s Mother’s Day tomorrow and lots of local schools were holding their annual Sports Day today ~ so off we went to our local elementary school, Xingren, to help them celebrate not only Sports Day, but their 99th birthday.  So next year will be a great centenary year ~ 100 coming up! And a special night it was! St. John’s University Student Fellowship holds a special night of outreach every semester, and last night was it ~ YEAH! St. James’ Preschool Fair, Taichung 一年一度聖雅各愛心園遊會 ~ Yes, it’s all happening!

Yes, there’s always something happening at St. James’ Church and Preschool in Taichung ~ such a very happening place!  And this weekend was no exception.  With Taiwan celebrating Mother’s Day next weekend, St. James always has their Mother’s Day celebrations on the first weekend of May, so this was it! Taiwan’s Nepali Community mourns…

Happened upon a candlelit memorial event this evening for the victims of the deadly Nepal Earthquake which struck last weekend ~ Taipei’s Nepali community gathered in a corner of the C.K.S. Memorial in Taipei City, along with Taiwan friends and supporters… ‘Pray for Nepal’ was the message, as the monks led the chanting for the deceased….
