The Devil’s Punchbowl ~ yep it’s a real place!

What a place! Down in deepest Surrey, far from the madding crowd…. found myself there yesterday for all of 5 minutes ~ and the sun was out ‘n it was stunning! It’s rather disturbing name turns out to be the stuff of lots of legends, and the one promoted at the site is that the Devil, in his spare time, hurled lumps of earth at the god Thor to annoy him. The hollow he scooped the earth out of became the Punch Bowl. The local village of Thursley means Thor’s place…. A must-see kind of place – what a view! Ah London ~ so much to see, so little time!

My first day back in the UK with a long list of things to do, including the major excitement of laminating the group photo of last month’s House of Bishops in Taiwan – so with that excuse and clutching my large rolled-up photo, off I go to the big city! Flying Prayers ~ for the Middle East…..

Weather Forecast says it’s gonna be a warm ‘n sunny day here in London with a high of 22°C – yippee! Yesterday’s flight from Taipei to London took us over some interesting places ~ and on a 16-hr daytime flight, well there’s plenty of time for contemplation, prayer and intercession, particularly if at that moment, you’re flying over some of the most troubled areas of the world…. May God have mercy on the suffering peoples of the Middle East…. Now in Stockwell, south London – waiting for the promised sun to make an appearance! Advent Church Community Concert 社區音樂會 2014….

And packed out the church was!  Kids and parents, church members, local people, university staff and students, visitors, and members of the nearby Bunun Indigenous Church ~ all here at Advent Church last night for our annual community concert, always held around the time of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival… Dancing, singing, performances on trumpet, violin, piano, guitar and xylophone ~ a great atmosphere, and many new friends made ~ all part of our community outreach programme… Only one big splash during the concert when a lady in the dancing group so busy taking photos didn’t see the baptismal pool ankle-deep … Continue reading Advent Church Community Concert 社區音樂會 2014….
