Sad News: RIP Advent Church Cat….

Today’s official announcement on Advent Church Facebook Page reads: 今早牧師發現降臨堂的貓(Organ)已平安的離去,感謝主牠在降臨堂盡中職守9年,共抓了9隻老鼠,維護電風琴的壽命  Our Advent Church cat was found dead on the steps of the church office this morning, apparently from natural causes.  We thank God for her faithful service to Advent Church over the last 9 years catching mice and so preserving the life of the church electronic organ.  The cats’ name was Organ, after the instrument she was protecting ~ and she was extremely popular on the campus with the students and in the church….. 救主復活日 Happy Easter ~哈利路亞! 主已復活!

Alleluia, Christ is Risen!  哈利路亞! 主已復活! Easter celebrations at Advent Church started last night, Easter Eve, with the Easter Vigil – the lighting of the Easter fire and the first half of the service by candlelight, then 4 baptisms and Holy Communion…. All wonderfully led by retired priest, Rev. Michael Liou, who sang the whole service ~ amazing! Despite having no voice only a few days earlier, on the night he was in fine form! Advent Church 敬祖主日Ancestor Memorial Liturgy

Every year on the Sunday before Chinese New Year, the Taiwan Episcopal Church has special prayers and liturgy to remember our ancestors… We give thanks to God for our ancestors, and remember the legacy they have left us, that without them we would not be where we are nor who we are… Ancestor worship is very much part of the Chinese New Year tradition.   Christians honor, respect, give thanks and pray for their ancestors rather than worship them, and this is one way for the church to be part of that.
