St. John’s University Annual Fun Run ~ and we were there ~ YES! St. John’s University Dept of Creative Design 創意設計系 Graduating Students Design Exhibition!

Gotta go, gotta see! Our 4th and final year students in the Dept of Creative Design have a special exhibition of their design projects ~ and they are AMAZING! So much talent, so much creativity, so much skill!  The students have been working on these projects for the last year ~ and this is the result. ‘A-dan’ is a member of our student fellowship, her project is titled ‘1990’ and full of quirky designs and products, fun ways for today’s young people to remember their 90’s childhoods…. St. John’s University, Taiwan ~ Annual Celebration!

Today is the day!  On this day 49 years ago, April 26, 1967, the Ministry of Education officially notified ‘St. John’s and St. Mary’s Institute of Technology’ SJSMIT, (the original name of St. John’s University, SJU) that they could start to recruit students for their brand new 5-year junior college courses. The school dates its foundation from that day, and many of the original first intake of students are still active in the SJU Alumni Association today. Bishop James C. L. St. John’s University Student Fellowship Sunday

It’s the end of April, and every year St. John’s University holds it annual university celebration day ~ held at this time around the anniversary of the accreditation of the school by the Dept of Education, and the death of the university’s founder, Bishop James C. L. Wong.  He died on April 27, 1970 and is buried under the altar in Advent Church.   Yesterday was the St. John’s University Student Fellowship Sunday, the service was mainly led by the student fellowship members, and offerings go towards that ministry. Tour de Taiwan 2016 ~ Go Go Go!

Today is the second stage of the Tour de Taiwan, a round-Taiwan international cycle race that started yesterday in Taipei. It’s a bit grey out there this morning, but probably ideal for cycling.  Today they’re doing 114.67 km, from Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf around the northern coast, up Yang-Ming Shan a little, and finishing at Baishawan Visitors Centre around lunch time. Celebrating Rev. Lennon Chang’s 20th Anniversary of Ordination 張員榮牧師按立聖職20週年感恩聖禮!

On St. Thomas Day, December 21, 1995, our chaplain and rector, Rev. Lennon Chang 張員榮牧師 was ordained deacon at Good Shepherd Church, Taipei, and on January 25, 1999, the Conversion of St. Paul, he was ordained priest here at Advent Church.  So it’s 20 years since he was ordained to ‘Holy Orders’ ~ and last night we all gathered at Advent Church for a Thanksgiving Service and Celebration ~ YES! Chinese New Year Celebrations @ St. John’s University 聖約翰科技大學 尾牙餐會 Wei-Ya Banquet!

Chinese New Year is coming, and coming soon ~ YEAH!  Our students have all gone home, the local schools have broken up for the holidays, and everyone’s getting ready! YES! NT$ 340,000 (US$ 10,350) all raised for 宜蘭聖方濟老人長期照護中心 St. Francis Care Home, Yilan!

Incredible!  Thanks be to Almighty God!  It’s done!  This month, St. John’s University and Advent Church have raised a grand total of NT$ 340,000 (US$ 10,350 / £ 6,985) for St. Francis Home  宜蘭聖方濟老人長期照護中心 in Toucheng, Yilan County – way beyond our expectations.  Thanks for everyone who participated!  Here’s our chaplain and rector, Rev.
