NCCT @ Taipei Holy Trinity Orthodox Church….

My first ever visit to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Taipei ~ for an NCCT (National Council of Churches of Taiwan) meeting….. The NCCT is quite unique in that RC, Orthodox and Protestant Churches are all represented ~ ‘n it don’t happen like that in many countries!  So happens that for these 2 years, 2013-14, Bishop Lai is the NCCT chairperson, and we’re part of the team…. Holy Trinity is quite some church, on the 4th floor of a huge apartment block…. And the view’s quite some view!  And so of course, the meeting was quite some meeting! Happy Moon Festival!

And St. James’ Church, Taichung annual Moon Festival BBQ was another great success! Officially called the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, but autumn feels a zillion years away ~ it was sooooooo hot and humid ha ha! And of course the moon is supposed to be full, and at its best and most beautiful for the whole year, as but the actual full moon and the Moon Festival is not until Monday we have a few days to go yet.  Not that it stopped us enjoying ourselves…. smiles all round! Penghu 澎湖 sun, sea, sand, sky ~ and such a lovely baby!

A great weekend in Penghu with my most-adaptable (go everywhere, do everything!) visitors Mike and Harriet – visiting good friends Feng-Mei and her family at Xiyu Presbyterian Church ~ my second visit (for the first one last August, check out my blog post here), and this time, no typhoon – instead we had wonderful blue skies and seas the whole time…. yippee! Saw all the sights, swam in the sea, ate all the local delicacies, happened upon a Taiwanese Opera Festival, and joined in the Sunday worship and Sunday School at Xiyu Church…. Welcoming Mike and Harriet to Taiwan ~ YES!

Just such lovely visitors, as always! Harriet’s just finished her G.S.C.E’s, so what better treat than to come to visit Taiwan with her dad ~ YES!  First met in Tanzania many years ago ~ and now the family belongs to one of my CMS link churches, St. John’s, Neville’s Cross, Durham ~ such a wonderful church! Friday night they came and it’s been non-stop ever since…. and hot hot hot!  Taipei 101, Beitou Hot Springs, Tamsui Old Street, Advent Church, Baishawan Beach, St. John’s University, National Palace Museum, Shilin Night Market, C.K.S. Well it was definitely quite a week!  Accompanied Christina and Matisse on their first few days in Taiwan, firstly in Taichung at St. James’ Church and Preschool ~ where amazing welcomes awaited them, St. James at its best! And then to Taipei for a nonstop 2 days, accompanied by student Jenny… Friday ~ St. John’s University, Beitou Hot Springs, Taipei 101, tea with Bishop Lai, Tamsui Old Street for massage and ice-cream… Saturday ~ swimming in the sea at Baishawan, Taipei City – Presidential Palace, C.K.S.
