Taichung Train Station ~ The Old and the New!

Yes, there’s a brand new Taichung Train Station, built right behind the old one, at high level rather than ground level ~ and opened last month by President Tsai Ing-Wen. The original one was built in the Japanese Colonial era, about 1905…. And we now walk through the old station to get to the new one at the back.  The new station complex is not yet finished, and there’s tons of construction going on all around, but so far so good! Ju Ming Art Museum 朱銘美術館, Jinshan, Taipei ~ a must-see on a sunny day!

And y’know, it’s really quite an amazing place!  A massive sculpture park set in the hills above Jinshan, just above Dharma Drum Mountain, the famous international Buddhist Centre, and just below all the huge graveyards that are higher up.  Beautiful views down over Jinshan to the sea.  Do check it out! Ju Ming Museum houses all the incredible art work of Ju Ming 朱銘, the world famous Taiwanese sculptor, born in Miaoli, Taiwan in 1938. Ah, a sunny day, at last!

Finally the rain has stopped, and yippee, today’s been bright and sunny ~ YES!  It started with an early morning rainbow over Sanzhi ~ I love rainbows.  I’m sure that’s my house at the end of the rainbow, but sadly there was no pot of gold waiting when I got home ha ha! Rain, rain and more rain!

A whole week of rain, and the rivers are full!  I’ve never seen so much water in our local river at Sanzhi as on Monday, when the rain stopped a little, enough for me to take a look. Usually this river has enough rocks and stones sticking up so that kingfishers can sit there and fish. But not now! Photos do not convey the noise of all this rushing water ~ it is deafening!   Think we must be making up for a very dry summer when we could cross this river by the stepping stones!
