And another big milestone is reached, another group of SJU graduates is launched ~ ‘n many congratulations to them all! Today’s graduation was spectacular, as always – faculty and students gathered in gowns and mortar boards, parents and friends gathered with bunches of flowers and balloons, and the procession into the hall was led by 3 of our student fellowship students carrying the cross and 2 candles, and followed at the very end by chaplain Rev. ‘So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye’ ~ to all our lovely graduating students! Last night was their farewell party in Advent Church, organised by the SJU Student Fellowship group ~ YES! We have 13 or so of our student fellowship graduating, and most of them came last night, the boys in suits, everyone very formally dressed. It’s summer and yes, the days are getting longer, and with Taiwan’s northern tip so close, and the Fugueijiao Lighthouse newly open to the public since last summer ~ who can resist popping by before it closes at 6:00 pm?! This was the lighthouse yesterday, and in the far distance to the right, you can just make out the shipwrecked container ship that is still there just along the coast….. Looking splendid eh?! Trinity Sunday in Taichung!
A city of colour even on a rainy day! Attended the morning service with the Filipino community, mostly migrant workers, who gather at the Church of the Immaculate Conception every Sunday. The main mass is at 12 noon, and is always packed out, so they now have a new mass at 10:45 am too – that’s the one I went to. The priest is a good friend of mine, Fr. Joy from Maryknoll Missioners.
