“My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”

The Church of England’s Holy Week and Easter short film of Psalm 22…. “My God, My God why have you forsaken me ?” The words spoken by Jesus on the Cross from Psalm 22 inspired our new JustPray video for Easter. The film follows on from The Lord’s Prayer advert launched by the Church last Christmas which was banned by cinemas for its religious content. The stars of the film have struggled with drug addiction, crime and homelessness on their journey to faith. Refugee and Migrant Crisis….

This summer’s News is dominated by tragic reports of thousands and thousands of refugees and migrants, mostly from Eritrea, Syria and Afghanistan, trying to cross the Mediterranean and get into Europe, and then those already in Europe trying to get to a place that will accept them. The best comment I have come across comes from Bishop Alan Wilson, Bishop of Buckingham, Diocese of Oxford, writing from the UK and reflecting the overwhelming feeling of my Facebook News feed…. “..We started a war in the Middle East, radicalised Iraq (which was a largely secular state), caused a flood of refugees out into … Continue reading Refugee and Migrant Crisis….

Anglesey, N. Wales

An octagonal house ~ just how cool is that?! The Anglesey Toll Houses web page says: ‘Thomas Telford designed and supervised the building of the Menai Suspension Bridge, and the road from Holyhead on Anglesey to London. The bridge took from 1818 – 1826 to build. As a means of recuperating some of the money there were five toll gates, each with a toll house, that were erected at approximately five mile intervals between the Menai Suspension Bridge and Holyhead.’ So happens that my good friends in Anglesey have one of ’em, in Gwalchmai, and beautiful it is indeed….. Moving on…

The week of The Great Move (note the capitals!) is over, all accomplished!  My mother is safely installed in her new place, all 50 boxes and packages unpacked, kitchen full of food, registration done at the local health centre, new address registered at the local bank, and milk ordered from the local dairy.  And that last one was the surprise of the week.  Milk ordered at the local dairy involves phoning a number and setting up a delivery account. All done not somewhere in deepest southern England – but, drum roll here…. in the Philippines, no less.  Manila to be … Continue reading Moving on…
