David Li (yep we have the same surname, just a different way to write it!) is one of our former students at St. John’s University, Taiwan, and he was also an active member of our Chaplaincy student fellowship group. He graduated only a year or so ago and now with his military service all over, he’s had the chance to come to the UK to study English for 6 months. He’s landed in Stratford-upon-Avon, and guess what? Until yesterday I’d never even been there. Disgraceful, indeed. Home of William Shakespeare and all that, so thought it was about time I … Continue reading From SJU ~ UK: Welcoming David Li to England!

My first ever visit to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Taipei ~ for an NCCT (National Council of Churches of Taiwan) meeting….. The NCCT is quite unique in that RC, Orthodox and Protestant Churches are all represented ~ ‘n it don’t happen like that in many countries! So happens that for these 2 years, 2013-14, Bishop Lai is the NCCT chairperson, and we’re part of the team…. Holy Trinity is quite some church, on the 4th floor of a huge apartment block…. And the view’s quite some view! And so of course, the meeting was quite some meeting! Continue reading NCCT @ Taipei Holy Trinity Orthodox Church….

It’s the end of the school year and exams loom large for many… For our students at St. John’s University classes, exams and graduation are all over, and students all vacated the campus this past weekend. Many are sad to leave. It’s soooooo quiet without them all! For our neighbouring junior-high school, the 9th grade students have already graduated and the younger ones are deep in exams, as they are all over the country… Tragically this past weekend, one of those just-graduated 9th grade students from our neighbouring school was killed in a road accident. Every year the long summer holiday … Continue reading All black and white…..
Saturday was THE big day! Thousands of students, parents, gowns, mortar boards, VIPs, flowers, balloons, cameras, cars – and even dogs – all here for graduation…. Very hot and very humid, stamina needed! Photos and photos and more photos. Cameras and phones everywhere. Smiles permanently fixed. Click click click all day long. More stamina needed than ever! So nice to meet the parents of all these lovely students that we know. Some students look just exactly like their parents, and some – well you’d never know they were even related! Ha ha, the internet was buzzing all day with … Continue reading St. John’s University 畢業典禮 2014 Graduation Day!
